About Us

Throughout history, across many civilizations, it was often considered a duty to be armed.

With regard to the history of the United States, this natural right predates the 1689 English Bill of Rights under which our Founder Fathers armed themselves.

This right was solidified in the United States through our Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the United States Bill of Rights. It was always seen as an individual right, as was discussed in the Declaration on the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, the Federalist Papers; specifically, Federalist No. 46: The Influence of the State and Federal Governments Compared.

We also recommend the Anti-Federalist Papers as it was also discussed in these papers that the right to bear arms was an individual right.

You can also check out Tenth Amendment Center, specifically their content on our founders’ warnings and how every citizen should be armed to protect liberty. You can find links to founders’ letters and other founding documents.

The adoption of the 14th Amendment in 1868 reaffirmed property rights and the right to bear arms for freed slaves. The 14th Amendment served as a check on many Democrat-majority Southern states that had passed Black Codes (examples here), which sought to restrict freedmen's ability to own land and restricted firearm ownership, which was done by requiring permits.

The 14th amendment aimed to prevent these discriminatory laws from being enforced.

Since the passing of the 14th Amendment, the right to bear arms has been reaffirmed in the United States Supreme Court through various court cases. It was more recently affirmed that citizens have the right to bear arms outside of the home.

While our rights have been restored in the United States, New York State has been on a tyrannical streak like a two- year-old having a temper tantrum because the Democrat-majority in New York did not get its way. In response to New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, they passed the CCIA, which increased the training hours required to legally purchase a handgun for conceal carry (you have to complete training before you can exercise your right) from 4 to 18 hours.

We knew this requirement would still make it hard for New Yorkers to exercise their rights as many courses that were initially available were out of reach financially and difficult to attend due to scheduling, including group classes.

While we believe training should not be a requirement to exercise a right, we do believe training is important and everyone should constantly train to be proficient with their respective firearms and tools.

This is why we started Oak Arms Training Group.

Our foundation for our training is simple:

A personalized, fatherly approach to teaching that breaks down concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

We formed out of the idea that each person is different and learns differently. We all have strengths and learning targets (things we can improve). When learning new skills, we are prone to making mistakes, and it is better to make those mistakes in a controlled environment rather than during an actual emergency.

At the end of the day, you are your own first responder, so you need to be prepared.

Our come-to-you tailored approach is designed to grow your confidence with firearms no matter your experience level. Whether it is your first time using a firearm in a controlled environment, or you have just purchased your first firearm, we want you to grow your confidence with every action you take.

Our mission is to help you grow into the best version of yourself, so you can defend yourself and your loved ones.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to use Oak Arms Training Group.

My instructor was not only incredibly attentive but funny as well.

I left feeling confident.

All my questions were answered and because of all the laughter in between my questions and the course, I didn’t hesitate to ask the “dumb” questions. I could be myself and truly express myself if I didn’t understand something.

I can see why this company is growing so fast, and I recommend that ANYONE interested in getting trained to carry a firearm or becoming more proficient with a gun choose Oak Arms Training Group.
